What is FairSettlement?
FairSettlement (fairsettlement.co.uk) is a free information resource providing employment law calculators and plain-English guides for employees in the UK. Our goal is to help people understand what their settlement agreement, redundancy package or employment tribunal claim might be worth — before they sign anything.
We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. We are an information publisher. Our calculators use publicly available statutory formulae; our guides are written to explain the law in plain English.

How we stay up to date
Employment law rates change annually — the weekly pay cap, award limits and Vento bands are updated each April by statutory instrument. We review all calculator figures each April and update them accordingly. When significant legislative changes are announced (such as the Employment Rights Act 2025), we add callouts and update the relevant calculators promptly.
If you spot an error or outdated figure, please contact us.
Our guides
Our guides are written by employment law researchers with reference to:
- Primary legislation (Employment Rights Act 1996, Equality Act 2010, ITEPA 2003)
- ACAS publications and Codes of Practice
- Employment Tribunal Presidential Guidance
- HMRC guidance
- Case law (key decisions referenced throughout the guides)
All guides are reviewed for accuracy and updated when the law changes. They are written to be educational, not as a substitute for legal advice in a specific case.
Commercial model
FairSettlement is free to use. We generate revenue through:
- Google AdSense — display advertising. Ad content is selected by Google and is not controlled by us.
- Solicitor referrals — we may receive a referral fee when users instruct employment solicitors through our site. This does not affect the advice users receive — all referred firms are SRA-regulated.
We disclose referral relationships clearly on the relevant pages. Our content is not influenced by commercial relationships — we do not accept payment for editorial coverage or calculator results.
